Dean Barnes

Dean Barnes is a Producer/ Director & Writer located in Malibu, California who has been actively working in the Entertainment Industry for more than twenty years. His well-rounded work also includes being Photographer, Editor, Production Consultant, and Visual Effects Producer/ Supervisor.

   Dean spent six years of intense management work at Paramount Pictures Corporation as Director of Feature and Television Post Production where he learned business skills including day-to-day management of all related Post Production departments and personnel, working and drafting budgets for studio features and television series projects, and close interactivity with Paramount film production executives in all studio divsions. While at Paramount Dean aggressively developed new emerging editorial and computer generated technologies, bringing them into the Paramount system.

For the last ten to twelve years Dean has worked on well-over three hundred hours of dramatic television and mini-series projects for various Hollywood studios and independent producers as well. As a Producer or Co-Producer he has been fiscally responsible for large budgets on these projects. His duties have ranged from overall Post Production Supervision, to Production and Supervision of Visual Effects, to development of story treatments and scripts, to Directing for Visual Effects Scenes, 2nd Unit Directing, as well as Underwater Unit Directing. His professional activities have taken him abroad, working in various locations including Florida, Wilmington N.C., Vancouver B.C, and Queensland and New South Wales Australia. Dean initiated his company, Latigo Filmworks, Inc., in 1996. Dean is a Director member of the Directors Guild of America.
